Prepared with button mushrooms.

Mushroom Pasta is a pasta dish that is simple and tasty. The mushrooms will make the dish super flavourful.

White or brown button mushrooms are used for this recipe.

I believe that less is more when I gave thought to the other ingredients.

Note:

Tbsp = tablespoon.

Tsp = teaspoon.

Chopped = chopped or cut into ½ cm pieces.

INGREDIENTS:

350 g to 400 g pasta. I normally use spaghetti, linguine, or penne.

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).

1 white onion finely chopped.

¼ to ½ tbsp cracked black pepper.

¼ to ½ cup pasta water.

400 g white or brown button mushrooms. Slice them into 25 mm pieces.

10 g grated cheese.

½ tbsp salt for cooking the mushrooms – to adjust as required.

1 tbsp salt added to the boiling water for the pasta.

2 sprigs of chopped parsley (optional).

METHOD:

1. Cook the pasta in a large pot according to package directions until al dente. This is from 6 to 9 minutes. Stir the pasta every 3 – 4 minutes to prevent it from clumping together.

2. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. Set the flame at medium.

3. Add the chopped onion.

4. Sauté the chopped onion for 2 minutes or until it is translucent and fragrant.

5. Then add mushrooms. Stir and mix them with the onions.

6. Sauté for 5 minutes and add pepper, salt, and grated cheese.

7. Add some pasta water from the pasta pot.

8. Stir and mix the ingredients for 2 minutes on a low flame.

9. When the pasta is al dente, drain and toss the pasta into the pan.

10. Stir and mix the pasta with the mushrooms, making sure that the pasta is coated with the sauce produced by the ingredients.

11. Switch off the flame and transfer the dish to plates.

12. Add pepper, chilli flakes, grated cheese and chopped parsley if desired and serve.
